History and Tradition of
Brothers' Cellar

We prepare wine using three types of technology: Qvevri, Swabian, and the classical method.

Swabian (Bolnisi) Technology: This involves skin contact (maceration) for 4 weeks. The wine has sweet aromas of yellow and white fruit. The taste is lively, with cheerful acidity and a diverse fruit palette, where banana, pear, and apple stand out. The finish is long, with undertones of spices and cinnamon.

During this time, we have learned a lot, worked hard, and overcome many challenges so that Bolnisi, as a new and interesting wine region, could establish its place on the wine map of Georgia.

We produce natural wines: Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Tavkveri, Chinuri, Asuretuli Shavi, Tsolikouri, Aladasturi, Shavkapito, Pet-Nat “Margalita,” Liqueur “Margalita,” apple cider, Chacha, and experimental wines – “Bovi” and “Anfenti.”

“Brothers’ Cellar” is named among the best small cellars, and our wines deserve recognition and praise at various festivals and competitions. Our recent winners are:

  • Merano Wine Festival: “Bolnisi Rosé 2022” (European technology) — Gold Medal.
  • IWSC Wine Competition: “Saperavi 2022” (European technology, aged in oak barrels, limited quantity — only 300 bottles) — Silver Medal.

We export our wines to the following countries: Australia (for 7 years already), Belgium (for 3 years), Germany (for 3 years, in Berlin and Hanover), China, Finland (2 years), Portugal, and Austria (Vienna). We are currently preparing for the USA market and hope to send our wines there in 2026 as well.

Bolnisi – Protected Designation of Origin (PDO)

Gurami, the winemaker of “Brothers’ Cellar” and the founder of the “Wine Bolnisi” Association, was the main initiator of granting Bolnisi the status of a PDO wine. In 2019, “Bolnisi” wine was registered in the Registry of Protected Designations of Origin of Georgia. This decision emphasizes the great potential of Georgian grape varieties and the wines derived from them. Such recognition is crucial for the popularization of Georgian wine and the expansion of its export opportunities.
